Clicking Noise from Front Wheels While Turning at Slow Speeds Condition Some customers may comment on a clicking noise emanating from the front wheels location. This condition may be more predominant at low speeds (10-20 mph or 16-32 km/h) during full wheel lock turns on dry clean pavement. Cause - his may be caused by interaction between the wheel mounting face and the wheel mounting surfaces on the brake rotor. Correction - lean both of the wheels mounting surfaces

Engine Overheat When Driving Aggressively with Accessory Grille and Outboard Cooler Installed Condition - Some customers may comment on the vehicle overheating when driving aggressively with accessory grille installed in addition to outboard cooler installed. Cause - This may be due to outboard aero blockers restricting airflow to the outboard coolers, causing the vehicle to overheat. Correction - If the vehicle is equipped with (RPO V18) outboard coolers and an accessory grille, the grille blockers should not be installed. If installed, they should be removed.

Body Creak Noise from Rear Seat Area Condition Some customers may comment on a creak or "itch" type noise from the rear seat area. The noise may be heard during acceleration, braking or when a twist or load is applied to the vehicle Cause: The noise may be caused by either metal contact between two panels or an insufficient bond between the panels. Correction: Spot weld and/or modify two body panels to correct the condition by following the Service Procedure below.

17335-Customer Satisfaction Program. Certain vehicles, equipped with 10-speed automatic transmission (RPO MGL), may have a condition in which the transmission was overfilled during production. If an overfill condition exists the transmission fluid may become aerated and may cause high transmission temperatures, gear slippage, and erratic shifting. In addition, performing limit-handling maneuvers may produce a fluid overflow condition through the vent tube. Dealers will inspect, and if necessary correct, the automatic transmission fluid level.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps need to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have stalling shudder and/or hard shifting into 1st gear or reverse vibration on launch (with excessive crankshaft end play). Technician will test to determine if the crank shaft end play is within specification 0.0015–0.0086 inch. If end play is found to be out of specification, remove engine and inspect for possible crankshaft thrust bearing and/or crankshaft for wear. Inspect thrust bearing for wear on one side and crankshaft on that “mating” surface. If the thrust bearing has three vertical channels worn off replace connecting rod bearings, main bearings, thrust bearing and crankshaft. If working on a Corvette the oil tank with lines and oil cooler are both required to be replaced if equipped.
