This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have oil mixed in with the engine coolant. Technician will need to inspect the oil cooler if equipped for possible leaking into the cooling system through the radiator. If no issue found replace the engine as well as all rubber coolant hoses. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Service Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P06DE set in the Engine Control Module. P0651 may also be set in the ECM with the P06DE. Technician must follow published Service Information diagnostics for P06DE. If diagnostics lead to removing the oil pan or engine oil pressure is below specification when hot, to inspect the oil piston nozzles for damage. Technician should replace the broken oil nozzle(s) as long as the engine does not have any damage which warrants engine replacement.

This Preliminary information communicates the use of Winter grade fuel during the warm months of 2020 and the potential rivability issues that it can cause. The ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused significant reductions in driving and fuel use. Due to the surplus of winter grade fuel sitting in storage (pipelines/stations) the EPA is waiving the fuel vapor requirement. This will extend the use of winter fuel into the summer months. The drivability concerns should not be single events but should be multiple occurrences associated with hot days.

Do not tighten, or otherwise move these two fasteners. These fasteners are part of the front fascia support bracket. They have a preset gap by design, and they have Loctite applied to the threads of the fastener so that this preset gap does not change.
