Technician will need to perform a power cycle to the Vehicle Communication Interface Module. If the concern is gone, no further action is required. If the concern is still present after the power cycle technician will need to contact General Motors Technical Assistance Center for further assistance.

Technician will inspect the oil control solenoids for metal debris. Also inspect for damage to the cam caps Journals and camshaft journals on the heads. The check the timing chain idler sprockets for stiffness when turning. If any of these instances would be a cause to replace the engine instead of repair.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician of a complaint of a sag or hesitation when accelerating. The concern is present when coasting at low speeds of less than 15 miles per hour and then aggressively applying the throttle, or after making a hard stop followed by an aggressive throttle. This is considered normal operation of the vehicle the throttle is delayed and opened slowly up to .7 seconds to help minimize driveline lash and clunking or will have approximately .5 seconds of zero torque to allow the transmission to shift to first gear.

13313 - SPECIAL COVERAGE. SOME VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH A 6.2L V8 ENGINE (LSA), MAY HAVE A CONDITION WHERE THE ENGINES SUPERCHARGER MAY NOT FUNCTION AS DESIGNED. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN, THE SUPERCHARGER MAY DEVELOP A NOTICEABLE RATTLE NOISE AT IDLE. THE NOISE WILL TYPICALLY GO AWAY WHEN THE ENGINE RPM IS RAISED SLIGHTLY ABOVE IDLE. HOWEVER, IF LEFT UNCORRECTED, THE PROBLEM, OVER TIME, MAY LEAD TO CONTAMINATION OF THE LUBRICATING GREASE AND CAUSE THE BEARING TO SQUEAL. IF LEFT UNADDRESSED, THE BEARING MAY OVERHEAT AND CAN CAUSE ENGINE SEIZURE OR A NO-START CONDITION. DEALERS ARE TO REPLACE THE SUPERCHARGER.

A dual-pulse injection strategy is utilized during engine cold start to reduce the time required to bring the catalytic converter up to operating temperature. This split injection strategy lasts for about 60 seconds on cold start. This process may cause the customer to see increased black smoke during cold start and should be considered normal.
