It may be necessary to reboot the RNS315 navigation unit, due to either, update programming stalled, or recoding. In order to reboot the unit, hold down the ?power? and ?eject? buttons at the same time until the unit switches ?OFF?. You should see the software screen once the unit powers back up indicating a successful reboot.

In order to switch the unit out of this mode, hold down the forward seek button, the back seek button, and the music button at the same time until the unit shuts down. The instrument cluster illumination is controlled by a photocell inside the cluster. If an illumination concern is suspected, darken the area over the photocell, or use a flashlight to simulate natural light changes, to see how the illumination is affected. See figure 1 below for example of the photocell location based on a 2011 Jetta sedan. Location can change based on model.
