Non-Toyota-Approved Modification - Owner Acknowledgment Form: **Non-Toyota-Approved Modification - Owner Acknowledgment Form** Certain 2018 -2019 MY Tacoma and Tundra - Millimeter Radar Wave Sensor. Your vehicle is involved in Special Service Campaign K0B. It is equipped with a Pre-Collision System (PCS) that may automatically apply the brakes if the system detects a potential collision. Due to the mounting of one of the system?s sensors, it is possible for water to enter the sensor. This can lead to PCS deactivation or inadvertent brake activation resulting in brief and limited vehicle slowing. The remedy involves an update to the PCS software and application of sealer to the millimeter wave radar sensor in the front grille. Also, in the rare case that the vehicle is currently exhibiting the condition, dealers will diagnose the sensor and replace it, as necessary, FREE OF CHARGE. However, because your vehicle has non-Toyota-approved modifications as noted below, PCS and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) may not operate as designed regardless if this free remedy is performed. For example: ?PCS may activate even if a collision is not likely. ?PCS may not recognize a vehicle or a pedestrian when a preceding vehicle or pedestrian is ahead.

Dealer Daily Message: **Modified Vehicle Handling Process UPDATE** Certain 2018 ? 2019 Model Year Tacoma and Tundra Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor Handling Procedure for Modified Vehicles Some vehicles may have modifications not authorized or approved by Toyota that make it impossible to perform the remedy for this Special Service Campaign. Toyota does not recommend installing aftermarket, non-Toyota authorized parts or accessories or Toyota parts not originally intended for the vehicle model and cannot evaluate how those modifications could affect a vehicle's operation. This is especially true for the PCS system, because it uses a camera and radar device that has an adjustment based on the vehicle?s original suspension design. It is best to restore the vehicle to its original condition prior to the remedy being performed. Any cost to do this is the customer?s responsibility. As a result, at this time, if a vehicle has modifications of the type noted below, Toyota does NOT RECOMMEND the remedy be performed with the vehicle in its current modified condition. Toyota cannot determine how modifications not authorized or evaluated by Toyota can affect the alignment of the PCS sensor. Please advise the owner that the vehicle?s special service campaign status will remain open, and the remedy will be performed FREE OF CHARGE when the vehicle is returned to a condition in which the remedy can be made.
