WPB: Toyota has received some reports where vehicles may exhibit excessive engine oil consumption. This Warranty Enhancement Program will be launched in two phases due to current part production capacity limitations. Initially, Toyota will inform owners that they may seek reimbursement consideration for previous repairs to address excessive oil consumption. Additionally, owners will be advised that if they believe their vehicle has excessive engine oil consumption, they can contact an authorized Toyota dealer to have the engine oil consumption test performed to determine if they will be eligible for future part replacement once sufficient parts are available. Once sufficient parts are produced, Toyota will send a second owner notification letter to customers informing them they may seek part replacement if their vehicle has excessive engine oil consumption.

The stain patterns are usually under wrinkles in the Rapgard. These wrinkles sometimes trap water and cause the paint to stain from the trapped moisture, especially on horizontal surfaces, such as the hood, roof, and trunk. Electronic Communication: Toyota recently released T-SB-0158-14 and S-SB-0031-14 to provide an inspection procedure and signoff sheet for excessive engine oil consumption testing on 2AZ engine models. This TSB references a Tamper Evident/Inspection Label that Toyota recommends for use during this procedure. Currently, the supplier noted in the TSB is unable to support dealer orders for this product. Toyota has placed a large bulk order of these labels and will be distributing a package containing approximately 20 tamper evident/inspection labels to your dealership. The shipment of labels is scheduled to arrive at your dealership the week of 12/22/2014. Toyota is currently working on making these labels available through the Material Distribution Center, and it is anticipated the labels will be available for dealer ordering through the MDC in late January 2015. In the meantime, if you require additionally Tamper Evident/Inspection Labels or Tape, we recommend that you source a locally available alternative product.

Beginning in 1998, Toyota introduced side airbags as optional equipment. Toyota does NOT recommend replacement of original seat covers with non-Toyota leather or other seat cover materials on vehicles due to the following: Seat covers NOT recommended by Toyota may affect side airbag performance, in general or in part, during an accident. Modifications that negatively affect side airbag performance can result in severe occupant injuries. Seat covers are an integral part of this safety system. Replacing fabric seat covers with non-Toyota leather or other seat cover materials may compromise the effectiveness of this safety system. The design of the seat is complex, integrating safety and strength with comfort and luxury. Toyota strongly discourages modifying original equipment seats that have optional side airbags. Additionally, Toyota strongly advises against the installation or use of aftermarket seat covers, which could impair the performance of the side airbags in the event of an accident.
