Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is initiating a service campaign for certain 2015-2018 Legacy and Outback 2.5L SULEV vehicles. This campaign involves replacement of the front exhaust pipe assembly, which includes the catalytic converter. Due to an improper part number supersession for the EPF assembly, certain SULEV vehicles which had the EPF replaced by an authorized Subaru retailer may have had a non-SULEV specification part installed. (SOA) is extending the New Car Limited Powertrain Warranty coverage for the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) on the above listed models and model years from the original five (5) years or sixty thousand (60,000) miles (whichever comes first) to ten (10) years or one-hundred thousand (100,000) miles (whichever comes first). This change is not in response to any specific condition, rather it is to provide customers with added assurance regarding the function and overall performance of their CVT. Additionally, vehicles which are beyond one-hundred thousand (100,000) miles at the time customer notification letters are mailed are being offered additional coverage for a period of one-year from the date of the customer notification letters.

In some cases, the retaining tab of the connector may become damaged as a result of removal or installation for diagnosis and later and cause DTC C1956 or C1957 to set and the brake warning lamp to illuminate. The retaining tab portion of the connector has been changed to improve its durability and prevent recurrence of the DTC. If there is no prior history of disconnection and the connector lock tab is not damaged, check for another possible cause for these DTCs.

MODELS WITH EYESIGHT ONLY. This bulletin provides a repair procedure to address DTC B2902 which may be stored erroneously due to a specification mismatch. This bulletin applies to a very limited number of early-production 2017 model year vehicles without the auto headlamp leveling (AHL) feature only. Having the incorrect control module installed has absolutely NO effect on normal headlamp system operation and does not cause any warning lamp(s) to illuminate. The repair involves replacing the headlamp control module.

This Bulletin provides information regarding Event Data Recorder (EDR) functionality which has been incorporated into the airbag system. The function of the EDR is best explained using the following statements found in the vehicle Owner?s Manual: ?This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations such as an airbag deployment or hitting a road obstacle, data that will assist in the understanding how a vehicle?s systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as: ? How various systems in your vehicle were operating; ? Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled/fastened; ? How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake pedal; ? How fast the vehicle was traveling.
