Oxygen Sensor Voltage Inspection Warranty Extension Dealer Announcement: In the interest of customer satisfaction, Nissan is providing a limited warranty extension to certain MY2013-2016 Nissan Altima 2.5L (SULEV and 50 states emissions) and certain MY2013-2016 Nissan Sentra vehicles (50 states only) to allow for annual rear oxygen sensor voltage checks, upon request, to determine if a rear oxygen sensor short-to-ground condition exists. If a rear oxygen sensor short-to ground condition exists, Nissan will inspect and repair or replace, as necessary, the sensor or wiring and remedy any diagnostic trouble codes that may have been masked by a failure to detect a possible rear oxygen (O2) sensor short to ground (SCG) condition. If those DTCs are first found only after a short-to-ground repair, the Limited Emission Warranty extension will cover the costs of parts and labor to inspect and repair the corresponding issue(s). Affected vehicles may fail to detect the rear oxygen (O2) sensor short circuit to ground (SCG). Undetected SCG may result in failure to pass emissions testing. Owners of eligible vehicles will receive a notification indicating their eligibility for the following: â¢Annual rear oxygen sensory voltage check during the extended warranty coverage â¢Limited warranty extension for the rear oxygen sensor to 20 years/200,000 miles (whichever occurs first) What Dealers Should Do: 1.Verify if vehicles are eligible for this limited Warranty Extension using the warranty extension page of Service Comm. 2.Dealers should perform a voltage check and, if necessary, remedy any eligible vehicles subject to this warranty extension to ensure customer satisfaction using NTB22-007. 3.The service department should submit the applicable warranty claim for the action(s) performed.

Engine Control Module (ECM) Reprogram and Oxygen Sensor Voltage Inspection Voluntary Emission Service Campaign Dealer Announcement: Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Emission Service Campaign to reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM) and inspect the oxygen (O2) sensor voltage on certain MY2013-2016 Nissan Sentra SULEV vehicles identified in Service Comm. If the voltage is OK, no repair is necessary. If the voltage check results are âNo Goâ, dealers will diagnose and repair per the electronic service manual (ESM), and remedy any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that may have been masked by a failure to detect the short circuit to ground condition. The current level software installed on the affected vehicles may not detect a rear oxygen (O2) sensor short to ground (SCG) condition. Undetected SCG may result in failure to pass emissions testing. What Dealers Should Do: 1.Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Emission Service Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History â Open Campaigns I.D. P1A25. 2.Dealers are requested to remedy any affected vehicles in dealer pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3.Dealers should use NTB22-006 to correct any vehicles subject to this campaign. 4.Once repaired, dealers should submit the claim, using the claims coding provided, and release the vehicle.

CVT Warranty Extension In an effort to assure customer satisfaction, demonstrate our confidence in continuously variable transmissions (CVTs), and to address customer concerns including those expressed by customers in the class actions, Nissan will extend the warranty coverage on the CVT. The warranty extension includes the CVT assembly and internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals, CVT control valve body, torque converter, cooler kit (if applicable) and reprogramming of the Transmission Control Module (TCM), on the vehicles listed in this announcement from its original duration of 60 months/60,000 miles to 84 months/84,000 miles (whichever occurs first). The extension also includes rental while CVT repairs or replacements are completed. Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissanâs New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. If an owner contacts a dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, verify warranty coverage for the specific VIN and then inform the customer of any diagnostic charges. NOTE: Some owners may have opted out of the warranty extension as part of the class action settlements, thus it is important to check the VIN for each vehicle to verify coverage. 2. Use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and/or Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval from the Powertrain Call Center (800-973-9992, option 2) for any vehicles requiring CVT replacements when the replacement cost exceeds a Dealerâs Claims Administration/Authorization Limits (DCAL). Control valves and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization for repairs made under warranty.
NHTSA source summary · Original PDF not reviewed by Recallfolio
CVT Repairs Repair Recommendation: Dealers are advised to use all diagnostic information available in the ESM, TSBs, and ASIST to determine the appropriate repair for a customerâs concern. Nissan recommends CVT assembly replacement be offered whenever diagnostics have led a dealer to determine a belt and pulley sub assembly repair will resolve a customerâs concern and the vehicle time in service or mileage is equal to or greater than 84 months in service or 84,000 miles. This recommendation provides longer-term durability for customer satisfaction. Customers required to pay out-of-pocket for these repairs may still choose belt and pulley sub assembly repair in lieu of CVT unit replacement if they prefer that option. Note: This recommendation only applies to belt and pulley sub assembly repairs. Do not recommend CVT unit replacement when the diagnosis is for software updates or control valves.

CVT Class Action Owner Notification Attention: Dealer Principal, Sales, Service & Parts Managers In early November, current and former owners and lessees of the following vehicles will receive a postcard from a Settlement Administrator informing them of the terms of a proposed class action that, subject to final court approval, could extend the warranty on the CVT for the following vehicles: 2012-2017 Versa Sedan (N17) 2014-2017 Versa Note (E12) 2013-2017 Sentra (B17) 2013-2016 Altima (L33) 2013-2017 Juke (F15) The proposed settlement (including the proposed warranty extension) is still subject to final approval by the court presiding over the proposed settlement. The court will determine if the settlement will be approved at or shortly after a hearing that is scheduled for March 6, 2020. To be clear, unless and until the proposed settlement is approved by the presiding court, there is no warranty extension and you should proceed with CVT-related claims as outlined below in #3 under what dealers should do. The proposed settlement, and the associated potential warranty extension, include many terms and conditions. Rather than attempting to address questions about the proposed settlement terms from customers, it is strongly recommended that you refer customers to the websites and/or telephone numbers listed below so that they can receive information from appropriate sources and in order to avoid providing incorrect and/or incomplete information. The telephone numbers and websites should be active by November 1, 2019. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. No action is necessary at this time. Nissan will provide additional instructions if and when the proposed settlement is approved.
