In an effort to protect the paint finish, Paint Guard Film (PGF) is applied on many new Nissan vehicles. Paint Guard Film is a temporary white plastic protective film that is applied by the factory to the horizontal painted surfaces of the vehicle. The PGF protects the paint finish during vehicle handling, transportation and storage from harmful elements such as acid rain, iron particles, bird droppings, tree sap and other environmental contaminants. NOTE - Paint Guard Film CANNOT remain on the vehicle for more than six months after the vehicle's manufacture date. PGF must be removed at the end of six months. See this bulletin for further detail.

SERVICE INFORMATION Starting with 2010 Model Year, Nissan vehicles have been gradually incorporating a new type of DTC known as Permanent DTC or P-DTC. If a vehicle is equipped with P-DTCs, all emission related DTCs will also set a P-DTC if the MIL is turned ON. A listing of which DTCs that will also set a P-DTC is found in the DTC Index in the EC-Engine Control section of the Electronic Service Manual (ESM). If a DTC repair is performed and the DTC erased, a vehicle may fail an Emission Inspection and Maintenance test if the P-DTC is not also erased. See this bulletin for further detail.

SERVICE INFORMATION A two-piece design front engine mount is currently being used for the applied vehicles listed. A single thunk noise may be heard on the first acceleration of the day from this type of mount and is considered normal operation. The mount has also been designed with built in free-play that is normal. Under normal driving conditions: * A "thunk" noise may be heard on the first acceleration of the day. And * Does not occur again, or at any other time. DO NOT REPLACE THE MOUNT: * If it has free play or a "single event" thunk sound on the first acceleration of the day. This is considered a normal characteristic of this type of engine mount. * If a shift shock condition is present when shifting from park into gear or between any combination of gears. This condition is due to transmissions line pressures and not movement of the mount.
