Some customers may report a slight clunk/bang/buzz noise or jolt from the front of the vehicle. This concern will most likely occur during the vehicles first forward movement after starting the engine. This is a normal operating noise of the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS). Do not attempt any repairs. If you encounter a customer complaint for this concern, explain that the noise comes from the ABS/TCS/DSC "Malfunction Detection Function" initial check and that there is no problem. This initial check is a necessary function to ensure the normal operation of the ABS/TCS/DSC system. It occurs when the vehicles first moves forward under the following conditions. NOTE: Some customers may describe that the noise does not occur all the time. It does occur all the time, but the sound is more likely to be heard on a slow start and not on a quick start (quick acceleration) when engine noise is louder.

Some customers may complain of condensation/fog inside the front (headlamp/headlight) or rear (taillamp/taillight) combination lights. The recent new models have been fitted with a clear lens which can cause the symptom to be more noticeable, however, it does not affect the performance of the light. This condensation/fog is a natural phenomenon that occurs when there is a fairly large temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the light housing. It is normal for very small water drops to appear incertain locations on the light units where the air is stagnant (condensation), making the lens look whitish (fog). This happens mostly in the corners and narrow spaces, and will typically clear during warmer ambient temperatures, or when the lights have been on for some time.

Some 2018 vehicles built after January 1, 2018 and equipped with Navigation may exhibit one of these concerns after the user inputs an address: A screen pops up that says "House number not found." After the user selects OK, the system finds the address or a nearby address.Instead of finding the correct address number the system adds a digit to the end of the number. Example: You enter 151 and the system comes back with 1510, 1511, 1515, 1516, etc. This only occurs with MAZDA CONNECT software version 59.00.540, which started being installed into vehicles in January 2018. The concern can be eliminated by installing MAZDA CONNECT software version 59.00.504.

Some vehicles may exhibit rust/paint blisters (1) on the surface of the front side sill near the the scuff plates(2). This is likely caused by the driver's or passenger's shoe(s) contacting the side sill when stepping in and/or out of the vehicle since the side sill of the Mazda3 is wider than other models. When this happens, mud/sand stuck to the sole of the shoe scratches the paint surface, which then develops into rust/paint blisters. Some vehicles may exhibit excessive operating noise when sliding the driver and/or passenger power seat(s) back and forth. Some vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following noises from the front suspension. A squeaking noise from the front shock absorber when turning the steering wheel at a vehicle standstill caused by stick-slip between the front strut bearing and the coil spring. A popping noise from the front shock absorber when passing over speed bumps caused by the bump stopper contacting the strut bearing when the shock absorber is compressed. A creaking noise from the lower arm when driving over road bumps at 20-40 km/h caused by stick- slip of the front lower arm bushing. The noise occurs when the road surface is wet or after a car washing, and becomes more noticeable as the speed bump gets higher. To correct these problems, the following changes have been made. For the squeaking and popping noise, the shape of the bump stopper has been modified and a protector has been installed onto the coil spring. For the creaking noise, the friction of the lower arm bushing has been reduced by adding a dry coating.

The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system alerts the driver of a possible collision using an indication in the display and a warning sound when the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) detects a vehicle ahead and determines that a collision with a vehicle ahead is imminent. In addition, the system reduces damage in the event of a collision by operating the brake control when the system determines that a collision is unavoidable. It may also be possible to avoid a collision depending on the relative speed between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. In addition, when the driver depresses the brake pedal, the brakes are applied firmly and quickly to assist.

Note: The center display Warning Messages are only displayed when the customer selects Applications>Vehicle Status Monitor>Warning Guidance>Warnings. This condition may be caused by FSC control logic that is too sensitive. When the FSC detects DTC U3000:98 during high temperature, it stops the internal communication and stores DTC U3000:04. DTC U3000:04 will not clear and SCBS/SBS, LAS/LDWS, and/or HBC functions will not resume until the ignition switch has been turned OFF even if the temperature of the FSC cools.

When dealing with customer complaints of excessive condensation and/or water within the headlamp unit, first determine if all the bulb sockets (including O-ring), seals and covers are present and correctly installed. In most cases you will find that the Bulb Seal No. 1 (A) or HID Bulb Seal No. 1 (B) and Bulb Seal No. 2 (C) socket covers have not been correctly installed or are missing due to improper prior repairs (i.e., customer replacing the headlamp bulbs or body shop not transferring them when replacing the headlamp unit(s) due to a collision). Any damage caused by missing socket covers, HID module seal (D), or missing bumper brackets (E) is not covered by warranty policy.

In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer?s responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometerand related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the ?SpeedometerReplacement Label?.Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda?s vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO?s services, a Mazda dealer can get the odometer setting updated to reflect the correct mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs, therefore resulting in a higher level of customer satisfaction. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after- warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.

Some vehicles may experience a rough idle with the check engine light on and DTC P0015 / P0524 stored in memory. P0015:00 - Exhaust CMP timing over-retarded. P0524:00 - Engine oil pressure too low. This is caused by a drop in engine oil pressure due to a piece of foreign object stuck on the oil pump pressure relief valve or oil control valve (OCV). The temporary entry of the foreign object triggers a check engine light on, but rough idle will not be produced until a later time.
