Some vehicles may exhibit the check engine light on with DTC P0456 stored in the PCM memory. P0456: EVAP system leak detected (very small leak)The concern is most likely the result of the customer not getting the fuel cap completely closed after fuelingthe vehicle. This causes a small fuel vapor leak and turns DTC P0456 on.

If a vehicle is driven on extremely short trips most of the time (where the engine never reaches normal operating temperature), the engine oil may become diluted with fuel and the engine oil level will increase. Engine oil dilution with fuel occurring under this specific driving condition is normal with direct injection engines. If the vehicle is driven on a longer trip after a lot of short trips (where the engine reaches normal operating temperature), the Check Engine Light may turn ON with DTC P0172:00 (Fuel system too rich).

Some vehicles may experience the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON with DTC P2610 and P2507 stored inmemory after engine start and room fuse 15A (A) removed. P2610:00: Instrument cluster internal engine off timer performance problem P2507:00: PCM battery voltage low input. As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display "F0-002" during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km). Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure.

Some 2018 vehicles built after January 1, 2018 and equipped with Navigation may exhibit one of these concerns after the user inputs an address: A screen pops up that says "House number not found." After the user selects OK, the system finds the address or a nearby address.Instead of finding the correct address number the system adds a digit to the end of the number. Example: You enter 151 and the system comes back with 1510, 1511, 1515, 1516, etc. This only occurs with MAZDA CONNECT software version 59.00.532 or 59.00.540, which started being installed into vehicles in January 2018. A musty/mildew type odor may come from the vents when the air conditioning (A/C) system is operating. It is most noticeable when the A/C is first turned ON. This odor is the result of mold growth in the A/Cevaporator/cooling unit which is caused by condensation, dust, and pollen within the cooling unit. This condition is usually worse during high humidity conditions. "Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating" is available to encapsulate the mold to reduce odors. If the product is properly applied, it can effectively reduce the musty/mildew odor for up to three years. NOTE: See parts information for Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating and Kit part numbers. This treatment provides a durable coating that will aid to prevent biological reactions that lead to odorconcerns. It is applied to the evaporator in a misted form that is introduced by way of the cabin air filter, the re-circulate door, the blower motor resistor access, or the blower motor air intake. Proper application requires the evaporator surface to be: Relatively clean and free of leaves, dust build-up and debris. Thoroughly dried, and the product cured onto it after application. NOTE: Keep the cooling unit dry by leaving the blower fan ON (at least on low), even if the A/C is not being used. In low humidity (dry) conditions, keep the ventilation system in the "FRESH" mode all the time, or as much as possible. In high humidity conditions, or if the air has a lot of dust or pollen, keep the system in the "RECIRCULATION" mode. A few minutes before reaching a destination, turn the A/C OFF, but leave the blower fan ON. This stops the accumulation of condensation on the evaporator/cooling unit, and it helps dry the inside of the cooling unit. A/C odor is not unique to Mazda vehicles as it will occur in other makes and models. To minimize A/C odor, suggest the following to the customers.

Some customers may report a slight clunk/bang/buzz noise or jolt from the front of the vehicle. This concern will most likely occur during the vehicles first forward movement after starting the engine. This is a normal operating noise of the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS). Do not attempt any repairs. If you encounter a customer complaint for this concern, explain that the noise comes from the ABS/TCS/DSC "Malfunction Detection Function" initial check and that there is no problem. This initial check is a necessary function to ensure the normal operation of the ABS/TCS/DSC system. It occurs when the vehicles first moves forward under the following conditions. NOTE: Some customers may describe that the noise does not occur all the time. Some customers may complain of condensation/fog inside the front (headlamp/headlight) or rear (taillamp/taillight) combination lights. The recent new models have been fitted with a clear lens which can cause the symptom to be more noticeable, however, it does not affect the performance of the light. This condensation/fog is a natural phenomenon that occurs when there is a fairly large temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the light housing. It is normal for very small water drops to appear incertain locations on the light units where the air is stagnant (condensation), making the lens look whitish (fog). This happens mostly in the corners and narrow spaces, and will typically clear during warmer ambient temperatures, or when the lights have been on for some time.

Example: You enter 151 and the system comes back with 1510, 1511, 1515, 1516, etc. This only occurs with MAZDA CONNECT software version 59.00.540, which started being installed into vehicles in January 2018. The concern can be eliminated by installing MAZDA CONNECT software version 59.00.504.

Some customers may experience the MAZDA CONNECT rebooting or the screen turning black during extremely cold temperatures. The concern occurs when the interior of the vehicle is cold and disappears when the interior warms up. This is caused by some SD cards for the MAZDA CONNECT navigation system being manufactured with improper hardware, resulting in a data reading error during extremely cold temperatures. To correct the concern, the SD card hardware has been changed.

Some customers may experience a lack of power with no warning lights illuminated and no related DTCs stored. This concern most likely occurs when the fuel temperature is high and during situations where high power is required. This concern may be caused when the learning value for the low pressure fuel pump exceeds a certain level and the PCM limits engine power to avoid a lack of fuel injection. Even if the low pressure fuel pump has a problem, no DTCs are stored. To eliminate this concern, the PCM control logic has been modified not to limit engine power. After this modification, DTCs P0192:00 or P0087:00 are stored when the fuel injection amount is insufficient. P0192:00 - High fuel pressure sensor circuit low input P0087:00 - High fuel pressure sensor circuit range/performance problem.

After parking the vehicle at temperatures below the freezing, some customers may experience a lack of power with the check engine light on and DTC P0638:00 and/or P2112:00 stored in memory. - P0638:00: Throttle valve actuator control range/performance problem (one drive cycle DTC) - P2112:00: Throttle valve actuator motor currentrange/performance problem (one drive cycle DTC) This concern may be caused by condensed water in the intake manifold entering the throttle valve. After parking at temperatures below freezing, the throttle valve may be frozen at the stand-by position, resulting in the symptom. To prevent this concern, the control logic of the PCM has been modified to avoid frozen the throttle valve (by moving the valve at a certain time after the ignition has been turned off). NOTE: With this modification, the main relay may stay on up to 90 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off. "BATTERY INSPECTION" in the Workshop Manual will be modified to properly check the battery parasitic draw after this modification.

The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system alerts the driver of a possible collision using an indication in the display and a warning sound when the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) detects a vehicle ahead and determines that a collision with a vehicle ahead is imminent. In addition, the system reduces damage in the event of a collision by operating the brake control when the system determines that a collision is unavoidable. It may also be possible to avoid a collision depending on the relative speed between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. In addition, when the driver depresses the brake pedal, the brakes are applied firmly and quickly to assist.
