01 / Owner-reported evidence
What owners reported.
Categories attached to 72 distinct reports. A report can mention more than one component, so category totals can overlap.

These are reports made to NHTSA, not verified diagnoses. More reports can reflect more vehicles, more time on the road, or greater reporting activity.
The reporting timeline
When reports arrived.
Reports by year filed, not by the year a problem occurred. Showing the latest 15 years with reports.
50,139 miles is the median among 55 reports with usable mileage. The middle half spans 11,450–74,441 miles.
This describes the submitted reports. It does not predict when a vehicle will fail.
02 / Official safety campaigns
2 recall campaigns on file.
A campaign can cover only certain production dates or configurations. The count does not tell you whether an individual car has an open recall.
PARKING BRAKECampaign 04V487000
Reported concern
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH LHD MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, THE HAND BRAKE, WHICH APPLIES THE PARKING BRAKE, MAY NOT APPLY SUFFICIENT PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PADS TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING IF THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WAS LEFT IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE AUTOMATIC ADJUSTER WITHIN THE HAND BRAKE MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY CAUSING THE HAND BRAKE LEVER TO TRAVEL OUTSIDE THE RECOMMENDED RANGE.
Manufacturer’s stated response
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE EXISTING AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT HAND BRAKE LEVER SYSTEM ON THE AFFECTED VEHICLES WITH A MANUAL HAND BRAKE LEVER SYSTEM. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 14, 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-800-452-4827.

Reported concern
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER SEDANS, THE POWER CIRCUIT WHICH FEEDS THE DIRECTION INDICATOR SYSTEM COULD FAIL. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE DRIVER BEING UNAWARE THAT THE EXTERNAL TURNING INDICATORS ARE NOT OPERATING BECAUSE THE INTERNAL "TELL-TAIL" LIGHT ON THE DRIVER'S INSTRUMENT PANEL CONTINUES TO WORK NORMALLY.
Manufacturer’s stated response
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE GENERAL ELECTRIC MODULE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 1, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-201-818-8500.

"ISSUE: WHEN INVESTIGATING CUSTOMER REPORTS FOR INCORRECT FUEL GAUGE CONCERNS THE DEALER TECHNICIAN MAY DIAGNOSE THAT THE FUEL SENDERS ARE OPEN CIRCUIT. THIS DIAGNOSIS MAY BE INCORRECT DEPENDING ON THE MULTIMETER SETTINGS SELECTED BY THE TECHNICIAN DURING MEASUREMENT. CAUSE: THE MULTI METER RANGE MAYBE SET AT 'AUTO' AND DURING A SWEEP OF THE SENDER FROM 50OHMS TO 998OHMS THE MULTI METER HAS TO CHANGE ITS MEASUREMENT RANGE. FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 SECOND, DURING THE RANGE SWITCH OVER POINT, THE MULTI METER DISPLAY INDICATES AN OPEN CIRCUIT. THIS IS INCORRECTLY BEING DIAGNOSED AS A SENDER FAULT"

04 / Agency investigations
Official inquiries.
An investigation is an inquiry into a potential concern. Its presence does not establish a defect, and a closed case does not certify a car’s condition.
