The J-35616-64B is the latest test probe released for checking tension or probing the .64 series terminals. The test probe terminal has been released in the terminal repair kit (J-38125-620H) located in Lear Tray 7 part number 963716-2. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to replace the power steering cooler. Technician will need to block off the hoses near the cooler connection with appropriate clamps. After the hoses are clamped disconnect the cooler from the lines and remove the cooler. Before installing the new cooler prefill the new cooler on the bench and cap off the pre-filled cooler ends for installation. When the new cooler is installed remove the clamps on the hoses and follow the service information for Power Steering System Bleed Procedure.

Technician may find a 4.1 ampere draw. Technician will need to back out pin 1 of connector 2 at the Body Control Module and see if the draw goes away. If the draw goes away, check for an aftermarket accessory that is improperly wired into circuit 1732.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that are travelling from Canada to the United States. While in the United States they are unable to receive Turn-by-Turn directions. Due to the existing cellular provider not having roaming agreements in areas outside of Canada to support transmitting of the packet data required for Turn-By-Turn feature to operate. The customer has 3 options while traveling through the United Sates. First if the vehicle is equipped with a navigation radio they can request a "Destination Download" to the vehicle. Second if the customer uses the OnStar RemoteLink app they can send the directions to the vehicle. The third option would be to have the vehicle loaded with a ?500 phone number? The customer will no longer be able to use their Hands Free Calling minutes when the new 500 phone number is loaded. If a customer chooses to restore Hands Free Calling in the future a new phone number will be assigned to the vehicle; previous phone numbers are not available.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that will not connect to OnStar. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code B2470-04 set in the Vehicle Communication Interface Module also a red LED on the OnStar keypad will be on. Technician will need to follow published diagnostics for the Diagnostic Trouble Code. If the diagnostics lead to replacement of the Vehicle Communication Interface Module read the OnStar Customer Identifier using Global Diagnostic System 2. If the value falls in range the technician will need to remove power from the module for 5 minutes. After the power cycle was performed, check for the Diagnostic Trouble Code to be set current or history. If the Diagnostic Trouble Code is current replace the module. If the Diagnostic Trouble Code is history no further action is required.
