On some various model year vehicles, the throttle-position sensor may cause the engine to run rough, cause the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message to illuminate, and reduce the engine's power. Dealers are to replace the throttle body assembly and gasket for Bosch equipped vehicles, or to install the throttle position sensor kit for Hitachi equipped vehicles. The Hitachi throttle body assembly only needs to be replaced if the sensor kit does not correct the condition. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer. For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after September 24, 2015, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to September 24, 2015, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to help diagnose and repair vehicles with a Antilock Braking System Malfunction Indicator Lamp on. Technician will find the scan tool will not communicate with the Electronic Brake Control Module. Technician will check the Yaw and Lateral Accelerometer Sensor and the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor supply voltage circuit 2087 Dark Green shorted and pulling down the internal circuitry of the Electronic Brake Control Module. Not all vehicles use circuit 2087 to supply voltage to the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor, so be sure to check Service Information for the specific vehicle that is being serviced. If circuit 2087 is backed out of the EBCM connector and communication returns, inspect for either this circuit being shorted to ground or for a sensor concern. Technician will repair the circuit as necessary and reroute to prevent the concern from reoccurring. If the technician is working on a full-size or utilities that have aftermarket lift kits the wheel speed sensor may be broken or shorted. Technician will repair the circuit as necessary.

Dealers are to flush the power steering system, replace the power steering pump, and if it hasn't already been replaced, install a new steering gear valve housing.

The concern is present when coasting at low speeds of less than 15 miles per hour and then aggressively applying the throttle, or after making a hard stop followed by an aggressive throttle. This is considered normal operation of the vehicle the throttle is delayed and opened slowly up to .7 seconds to help minimize driveline lash and clunking or will have approximately .5 seconds of zero torque to allow the transmission to shift to first gear.

14648 - Customer Satisfaction Program. Certain 2008-2010 model year General Motors vehicles have a performance issue with their OnStar modules that could impact the vehicle?s battery life. If the vehicle?s OnStar module contains this condition, the OnStar green telltale light will be illuminated even when the vehicle is off. This condition can drain the vehicle?s battery if the vehicle is not started for approximately four days. The condition may also render the OnStar system inoperative, which would disable all OnStar services, including automatic crash response and emergency roadside services. This condition can occur even if the vehicle is not actively subscribed to OnStar. Dealers are to remove the fuse for the OnStar module to reset it.
