13091 - Service Update - Leaks from the water pump shaft seal. These leaks are often due to vehicle operation with a low engine coolant level and may result in water pump failure. Proper maintenance of the engine coolant level will increase shaft seal reliability and help ensure that the water pump operates as intended.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that the Power Rear Lift-gate may reverse when closing. Technician will need to remove the lift-gate sill plate and cycle the power lift-gate closed to see if the concern still exists. If the concern is corrected, properly install the lift-gate sill plate. Technician will also need to inspect the lift-gate weather-strip seal for being fully installed on the body.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on how to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have the Antilock Braking System, Service Traction Control System, and/or Service Stabilitrak lights are on. The Electronic Brake Control Module may have one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes C0035-C0050 with specifically symptom 18, 5A, or 0F. Technician will gain access to the correct wheel bear per the Diagnostic Trouble Code that is set. If debris is found on the magnetic encoder ring it will needed to be cleaned.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have at times the XM Traffic or Weather for the local area takes several minutes to update and may read "NO DATA" or "UPDATING" during that time. Technician should be advised that Traffic and Weather data from local reporting stations and then send the updated info process may take up to 24 minutes. Technician should test for full operation of the XM band if the system has not started receiving the Traffic and weather update within 30 minutes. Also ensure the customer has not shut XM NavTraffic off in the user settings of the navigation radio. Technician will need to contact XM customer assistance to review the account status and verify that the XM Traffic option has been enabled and is available in the area.

Technician will insure the connectors to the Instrument Panel Cluster and the Driver Information Center witch are connected and then remove the (IPC/DSPLY) fuse. Reinstall the fuse after a few seconds to return the function of the Driver Information Center switch to normal.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an OnStar system that will not power up. Technician should turn off the ignition and cancel retained accessory power. After the vehicle has powered down, remove power to the OnStar module for five minutes. After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the OnStar system is working release the vehicle. If the OnStar system is still inoperative continue with published Service Information diagnostics.

Technician may find a 4.1 ampere draw. Technician will need to back out pin 1 of connector 2 at the Body Control Module and see if the draw goes away. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to replace the power steering cooler. Technician will need to block off the hoses near the cooler connection with appropriate clamps. After the hoses are clamped disconnect the cooler from the lines and remove the cooler. Before installing the new cooler prefill the new cooler on the bench and cap off the pre-filled cooler ends for installation. When the new cooler is installed remove the clamps on the hoses and follow the service information for Power Steering System Bleed Procedure.
