Some 2015-2019 Transit vehicles may exhibit inoperative power door locks and/or power windows due to water intrusion in the door to body harness connector C339 (left) or C340 (right). If corrosion is found, service pigtails JU2Z-14S411-RA (gray) and JU2Z-14S411-PA (black) are released to service the body harness (female) side of the connector, without replacing the entire 14401 body harness. Service the pigtail(s) and replace the door harness as needed, while making sure the door to body accordion grommet ends and surrounding body plugs are properly seated to prevent future water intrusion. For claiming use causal part 14631 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission it is imperative that the converter pilot hub be greased with Motorcraft Multi-Purpose Grease Spray XL-5-A even if grease was not applied from the factory. Also verify that the engine/transmission alignment dowel pins are present as well as the engine crankshaft dowel pin, if equipped, when installing the transmission. Failure to adequately lubricate the converter hub greatly increases the likelihood of the flexplate cracking in the future. Missing dowels may cause a misalignment issue also resulting in a premature failure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

Some 2013-2019 vehicles equipped with a EVDC air conditioning (A/C) compressor may exhibit poor A/C performance/improper climate function and/or a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P06A0 in the powertrain control module (PCM). To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC control valve tester has been developed and is available from Rotunda (339-EVDC100). A tester has been provided to each U.S. dealership free of charge with shipments completed 19-Apr-2019 (reference EFC07013 on FMCDealer.com). This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Make sure that this tester is used for warranty repairs and document the test results in the Technician Comments field. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions.

The appearance of a fluid leak or seepage on a vehicle with less than 500 miles or less than 3 months in service may not be due to a failed rear axle pinion seal. The appearance of fluid around the seal may be from the axle assembly being shipped to the vehicle assembly plant with the pinion facing down. To determine if a leak is present, clean the seal area of any residual lubricant and visually inspect the pinion seal for leaks or damage in the seal contact area or dust slinger on the pinion flange dust shield. If no concerns are found, run the vehicle on a hoist in DRIVE at idle speeds for 10 minutes to allow the fluid to circulate and recheck for signs of leakage.

When removing and installing a 2015-2019 Transit front subframe, the cage nuts located in the body of the vehicle may become damaged. If the nut spins in its cage when removing or installing the attachment bolts, the nut can be held with a socket through an access hole in the vehicles frame member. It may be necessary to bend the tabs of the cage up and away from the nut to allow socket placement. The cage nut has been released as a service part (CK4Z-61105A38-A) and can be replaced if damaged. The replacement nut can be removed from its cage and installed in the vehicle's original cage. It is not required to replace the cage as it is welded to the interior of the vehicles frame member.

Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.

If a vehicle displays these issues, disconnect the equipment from the DLC and disconnect the vehicle battery. Wait 10 minutes and reinstall with the ignition off. Clear any DTCs present and retest.

Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty/2016-2018 F650-750 with 6.7L diesel engines and 2015-2018 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines may exhibit a MIL on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Prior to performing Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test RJ, confirm DEF concentration using IDS to monitor REDUCT_CONC_MES. This PID reading may fluctuate between 31% and 34% indicating DEF concentration is correct. A concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. This reading may also be checked using Central Tools Refractometer (CEN3R201) which should indicate a similar percentage as the PID. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts.
