Some 2015-2019 Transit vehicles may exhibit a front wheel bearing type noise or DTCs C0031 and/or C0034 in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. If the vehicle exhibits a wheel bearing noise and/or DTCs C0031 and/or C0034, remove the front wheel speed sensor (WSS). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-09. Using a shop rag, clean any debris from the sensor body as well as the back side of the bearing. If the noise is gone, use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report and fill out the form. Monitor OASIS for updates. If the noise or DTCs C0031 and/or C0034 is still present, continue with normal diagnostics. To assist with investigation use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report and fill out the form. Monitor OASIS for updates.

Some 2015-2019 Transit vehicles may exhibit front seat safety belts that do not extend or retract properly or may exhibit an abnormal noise. Verify if the vehicle has been modified, in particular if a bulkhead partition between the front seats and cargo area has been added to the vehicle. Fasteners or holes in the lower b-pillar are indicators that the seat belt retractor mechanism could have been compromised. If diagnostics lead to retractor replacement, inspect for drill or screw holes in the retractor housing. Damage to the seat belt retractor caused by a vehicle modifier is not warrantable.

Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty and 2016-2019 F650-750 with 6.7L diesel engines, 2015-2019 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines and 2018-2019 F-150 with 3.0L diesel engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.

For 2010-2019 vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines, when diagnosing and/or replacing turbo related concerns, all steps within the Workshop Manual (WSM) procedure must be followed including replacement of all mandatory discarded parts. For all turbocharged engine applications, the turbocharger oil supply filter (6C683 gas engine/6L625 connector style or 6A968 diesel engine) must be replaced whenever the turbocharger or the turbocharger oil supply tube are replaced. This may be a result of using aftermarket cleaning liquids or tools for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler or intake. Ford does not recommend the cleaning of diesel intakes or EGR coolers using any aftermarket tool that injects a cleaning foam or liquid substance into the EGR cooler or intake. Using these types of fluids can result in sodium poisoning of the NOx and particulate matter (PM) sensors resulting in degraded operation and permanent damage to the aftertreatment system. Use of these cleaning tools may void the emissions warranty of the hot end aftertreatment exhaust system and the attached emissions sensors.

Some 2015-2019 Transit vehicles may have unique accessory drive noise characteristics. Engineering review of warranty returned belt tensioners has not identified an out of specification part, nor have abnormal sounds been recreated during on-vehicle evaluations with warranty returned tensioners. Before attempting a repair for an accessory drive system noise, compare the sound to a like Transit vehicle in similar RPM and temperature conditions. If the sound is not characteristic, use chassis ears to help isolate the source of the noise. If tensioner replacement is deemed necessary, use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the vehicle's OASIS screen and submit a detailed Global Concern Report highlighting the specific conditions when the noise was observed.

The procedure to program keys on 2015-2018 Transit vehicles depends on if the vehicle is equipped with the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS). Keys for PATS and non-PATS vehicles look the same, there is no visual difference. Vehicles with PATS have a plastic ring around the ignition lock cylinder and transponder. On the OASIS page, PATS vehicles can be identified by clicking on the Additional Information link and using the search function (Ctrl + F) to find IMMOBILIZER. Vehicles with LESS ENG IMMOBILIZER THEFT SYS do not have PATS. Refer to Work Shop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14 for programming keys on non PATS vehicles and Section 419-01B for programming keys on PATS vehicles. When performing the PATS key procedure, both PATS and Remote Keyless Entry codes are programmed simultaneously.

This may be due to incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Prior to performing Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test RJ, confirm DEF concentration using IDS to monitor REDUCT_CONC_MES. This PID reading may fluctuate between 31% and 34% indicating DEF concentration is correct. A concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. This reading may also be checked using Central Tools Refractometer (CEN3R201) which should indicate a similar percentage as the PID. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts.

Some 2015-2018 Transit vehicles may have unique accessory drive noise characteristics.

Some 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles with SYNC 3 may intermittently display an overhead image of a vehicle in the center of the SYNC touchscreen with no obstacle detection grids or warning chimes. SYNC may appear unresponsive when the overhead vehicle image is displayed. The vehicle image may intermittently display after shifting out of reverse or turning the vehicle off when in reverse. To recover the screen, perform any one of the following actions: touch the SYNC screen anywhere outside the vehicle image pop-up box, safely shift the vehicle into and out of reverse, or perform a complete ignition cycle (key off, open and close the driver's door then wait 5 minutes). If this does not resolve the concern, do not attempt any repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.

Some 2016-2018 Ford or Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may exhibit a blank screen or other various SYNC symptoms only when the vehicle is in transport mode. This is due to the power saving features enabled while in transport mode and is beneficial for battery life to keep the vehicle in transport mode until the vehicle is prepped for sale. To prevent a SYNC system lockup during transport mode deactivation, follow the Workshop Manual (WSM) procedure allowing time for the SYNC system to complete all tasks such as fully booting up or powering down and shutting off before moving to the next step of the procedure. If the vehicle exhibits a blank screen or SYNC symptoms after transport mode deactivation, refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for normal diagnosis. The SYNC version can be confirmed via OASIS.
