Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with only diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0315 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). If no drivability concerns are present, clear the DTC and retest. If the DTC returns, perform normal diagnostics per the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual. If the DTC does not return, inform the customer that Ford is developing a PCM software fix that is expected in June, 2021. Advise the customer that vehicle durability is not affected by the condition and they can continue to drive the vehicle. Schedule a follow up appointment for repair in June, 2021. Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit an inoperative radio, no communication with the audio front control module (ACM), and/or diagnostic code (DTC) U0184 stored in the SYNC module (APIM) or instrument panel cluster (IPC). If the vehicle is in transport mode, disable transport mode and retest. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10. If the concern is still present, perform a radio power reset by removing fuse F32 in the body control module (BCM) for 5 minutes. Reinstall the fuse and retest. If the concern is present, disconnect connector C240A from the ACM, reconnect, and retest. If the vehicle still exhibits the concern, refer to WSM, Section 415-00 and proceed with normal diagnostics.

First, an FDRS session must be created on the vehicle prior to removing the faulted module. Once the session is started, run the Programmable Module Installation and replace the module only when instructed by FDRS. Installing a new module prior to starting a scan tool session may result in incomplete module configuration with DTCs U2100, U2101 and/or U2200. Once a session has been started, continue to follow normal WSM procedures to repair the vehicle.

Some 2020-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may experience a lack of power due to snow packing of the engine air cleaner when operating in extremely snowy conditions. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1548 may be present in the powertrain control module (PCM). A heavy snow environment pre-filter service kit (service part LC3Z-9K635-AA) is now available for use but is not a warrantable item. It is recommended that the service kit be removed at temperatures greater than 50F (10C) and reinstall in subsequent winter seasons in order to maintain optimal vehicle performance. The service kit instructions mention that air filter FA-2031 is required, however the heavy snow environment pre-filter service kit can be used with either engine air filter FA-1951, or FA-2031 once it is available.

Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.

2011-2021 F-Super Duty and 2016-2021 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit a high/elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this high/elevated idle to reduce buildup of unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR system. The powertrain control module (PCM) estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 revolutions per minute (rpms) for ambient temperatures near 26C (80F) and may increase to as high as 1200 rpms at -40 C (-40F). These elevated idle periods can last from 20-40 minutes, depending on ambient temperatures. During power take off (PTO) use and already using idle set point control, the elevated speed is disabled. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to the Exhaust Filter warning messages.

Some customers may experience a notification in the FordPass and/or LincolnWay apps that indicates their vehicle has entered "deep sleep mode". This mode is enabled due to the vehicle not being started for 14 consecutive days or battery voltage is at/or below 9.5 volts. Some 2020 models will also set a warning if the telematic control unit (TCU) has received an automatic over the air update. The purpose of deep sleep mode is to conserve battery voltage. When deep sleep mode is enabled, the TCU is powered down and all communication with the FordPass and/or LincolnWay apps are disabled.
