This is due to the affected vehicles not having built in voice interactions capability. If the codes are stored in the PCM, remove and inspect the condition of all the spark plugs. If all spark plugs are found to be free of damage, replacement of the spark plugs is not necessary. Refer to the Workshop Manual and perform normal diagnostics. If any spark plugs appear to be damaged, use a borescope to inspect the condition of the cylinder walls. If the cylinder walls are scored/scraped/damaged, replace the long block engine assembly (6006) to resolve this condition. If the cylinder walls are not scored/scraped/damaged, replace the damaged spark plug(s) and advise the customer that engineering is investigating this issue. Some vehicles equipped with SYNC4 may exhibit one or more of the following symptoms after all currently available accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software updates have been performed. - General system performance, stability, and intermittent system reboots. - Intermittent Wireless CarPlay or Android Auto function. - Phone related concerns with intermittent No Audio or Static. - Navigation/global positioning system (GPS) related concerns through CarPlay and Android Auto. - Alexa function consistency and stability. These symptoms may be due to the software in the APIM. Replacing the APIM will not resolve these symptoms for the customer. Before returning the vehicle to the customer, review the procedures within Workshop Manual, Section 415-00 and ensure the latest APIM software is installed. Refer to General Service Bulletin (GSB) 23-7146 for help determining the latest available level of software. IMPORTANT: some module software updates will only display as available on Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) after prerequisite modules are updated. This may require the technician to update certain modules multiple times during the service visit, before the latest APIM software is accessible in FDRS. If symptoms continue after latest APIM software has been installed, inform customers that Ford is working on additional software enhancements which are expected to be delivered over-the-air (OTA) by Q4 2024 on F-150, F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Mustang, Escape, Corsair, Expedition, Navigator, Bronco, Mustang, and 2023-2024 F-Super Duty. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicle's settings. For all other vehicles with SYNC4, schedule a service visit for customers in October 2024, when the updated APIM software is expected to be available to dealers. Some 2021-2024 F-150-3.5L FHEV, 2020-2024 Explorer 3.3L FHEV, 2020-2024 Escape 2.5L FHEV, and 2022-2024 Maverick 2.5L FHEV vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P237F and/or P2C23 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) and no affect on drivability. This may be due to seal damage, corrosion and/or water intrusion in the exhaust coolant temperature (ECT) sensors 3 and/or 4 connector. Visual inspection should be completed on ECT3 and ECT4 sensors and mating connections for seal damage, water intrusion, and corrosion. If seal damage, water intrusion or corrosion is present, repair per cell 5 of the Wiring Diagram, then apply Motorcraft® XG-12 Electrical Grease to the female/vehicle side of the harness. This inspection of ECT3 and ECT4 sensors should be completed prior to starting the appropriate pinpoint test in Section 303-03 of the Workshop Manual (WSM). If DTCs P237F and/or P2C23 do not return, no further action is necessary and the replacement of the entire exhaust heat exchanger assembly is not required. If P237F and/or P2C23 returns, follow the pinpoint test in Section 303-03 of the WSM for further diagnostics.

All accessory stick-on keyless entry keypads come with a wallet card containing the master code. If the accessory keypad was factory installed, this card will be placed in the glove box and should be handed to the vehicles owner during initial delivery. Unlike the integrated (wired) factory keypad, the accessory keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. Dealer Key Code access is granted through the Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES); dealership management can authorize users. The authorized user must go to FMCDealer.com > Parts and Service > Parts Product Line Information > Keys/Entry Devices > Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Follow the instructions on the screen to obtain the master code for the accessory keypad.

Various vehicles have had pinpoint tests, guided routines and the Warranty and Policy Manual recentlyupdated for diagnostics and repairs on SYNC generation 3 and later applications. When performingdiagnostics and repairs on SYNC Gen 3 or later, select the diagnostics tab and search for related symptoms,DTCs and keywords. The search results will be shown in the search results pane. Read and follow allTechnical Service Bulletins (TSB), Special Service Message (SSM)s or General Service Bulletin (GSB) first if abulletin specifically addresses the vehicle concern. If there are no messages, run the appropriate diagnosticpinpoint test found in the Workshop Manual (WSM). Follow the steps in the pinpoint test. Make sure to note thetitle of the guided routine, using the correct one for the vehicle's symptom or diagnostic trouble code (DTC) iscritical. Depending on the outcome of the pinpoint test, a repair validation code (RVC) may be generated eitherin the pinpoint test or Guided Routine. This may be due to the gateway module (GWM) software. To correct the concern, download and run the Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation app: under HS1 modules select BCM > Transport and Factory Mode > Download > Run. When the pop-up message appears for Change Vehicle Mode - Transport/Factory/Normal Mode, press OK. This will proceed to the Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation screen, select Unlock Vehicle Connectivity Settings (21 MY + Vehicles). A pop-up message appears noting Vehicle Is Now In Normal Mode, select OK. This will return to the Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation screen, select Exit. For 2015-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.

This may be due to a lack of memory space available to perform the APIM software update. If it is a memory concern, the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) will provide an option to delete the voice application. Re-enter the module programming and when prompted, do not select first option - SYNC Module (APIM) Software Update, select the second option - Delete Voice Application(s) From Module. Once deleted, run the SYNC Module (APIM) Software Update as directed, this will update the software and automatically reload the voice app. If the voice delete option is not available, continue with normal diagnostics in the Workshop Manual, Section 418.

During service and repair requiring removal and replacement of a crankshaft bolt and/or crankshaft damper, achieving proper torque of the crankshaft pulley bolt is critical. Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.

Some 2023-2024 Escape vehicles built on or before 11-Jan-2024 equipped with 1.5L engines may exhibit an Engine Coolant Over-Temperature Warning message displayed in the IPC and an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1285 and/or P1299 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) during hard acceleration or under high load conditions. This may be due to machining chips trapped in the cylinder head causing a potential blockage in the coolant passage near the cylinder head temperature (CHT2) port. To diagnose this condition, start the vehicle and idle for 15 minutes. Perform a road test at a temperature above -20°C (-4°F) and apply wide-open throttle (WOT) hard accelerations in rapid succession. If the concern can not be replicated, drain and refill the coolant system. If the concern can be replicated, drain the coolant system. Disconnect the charge air cooler inlet and outlet hose, overflow hose, upper and lower hose of the radiator and position these components aside. The lane keeping aid assists the driver by providing steering torque to help the driver keep the vehicle in the lane when it detects unintentional drifting toward the outside of the lane. Additionally, adaptive cruise control with lane centering provides constant steering torque to keep the vehicle centered in the lane while cruise control is engaged. These are operating characteristics of the lane keeping systems. Refer to the Owner's Manual for complete description of the operation of these systems. Confirm all doors are fully closed and latches are fully engaged. Doors will not fully close when lightly letting go of the door or letting it swing closed from a short distance under its own weight. Push/pull effort must be applied to doors while closing to fully engage latch and turn off the ajar signal warning. If doors are still not fully latching closed, manually adjust door striker position to allow for proper alignment and engagement to the door latch. The xRC-3363 will prompt the Technician to verify the low voltage connections, when no actual fault is present. The technician will need to delete the WiFi connection from the xRC-3365 so it will not automatically reconnect and adjust the date. Next go to Settings>Shop Information>Date/Time Settings and change the date prior to May 1, 2023 and stay off the internet so it will not auto correct itself. Press and hold the power button until the tool turns off. Then turn the xRC-3365 back on and attempt the rescue charge.
