Some 2021-2023 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L engine may exhibit: insufficient cooling from the air conditioning (A/C), under hood popping/knocking/hissing noises and/or under hood smoke, coolant stains and/or spills on to the A/C compressor and clutch assembly. The compressor clutch might fail after operating the A/C system if the exterior of the compressor gets wet. Perform pin point test J, refer to the Workshop Manual, Section 412-00 Climate Control System > General Information > Diagnosis and Testing. If a compressor clutch failure is identified, replace the compressor clutch only. Do not replace the A/C compressor if no performance issues are identified. Document the PPT J results in the warranty claim. For claiming, use causal part 19V649 and applicable labor operations in Section 11 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2022-2023 F-150/Bronco/Expedition/Navigator/Escape/Corsair/Bronco Sport/Edge/Mustang vehicles built on 04-Sep-2022 and through 30-Dec-2022 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0230 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). The vehicle may also experience a no start or stall after start. This may be due to an internal PCM issue. If this DTC is present, verify the battery condition, then perform pin point test (PPT) KC of the Work Shop Manual (WSM), Section 310-01. If PPT KC leads to component replacement, start with replacing the PCM and then evaluate the vehicle. If the DTC returns, follow WSM, Section 310-01 PPT KC direction to address the issue.

Some 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair, 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles may exhibit a condition where the door(s) do not open using the exterior door handle(s). This may be due to an enabled permanent engagement inertia lock within the exterior door handle, this condition occurs when the doors are closed or opened with excessive force. Some 2022-2023 Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles built on 04-Sep-2022 and through 30-Dec-2022 may exhibit the engine not restarting after an auto start/stop event with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P164C stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) may also become illuminated after the vehicle experiences a second event before it can be brought in for service. This may be due to an internal issue with the PCM. To correct the condition, check the battery condition and state of charge, then replace the PCM and re-evaluate the concern. For claiming, use causal part 12A650 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If the concern persists, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 303-14B and perform Pinpoint Test AA for normal diagnostics.

All 2021-2023 Bronco Sport vehicles have a headlamp low beam pattern with a dark band above the vertical reference line. It is by design that there is no light directed in this area to satisfy regulatory requirements and also to minimize glare to oncoming traffic. Secondly, in the low beam pattern there is some light directed upward to satisfy regulatory requirements and also to assist with overhead sign visibility. This a characteristic of the vehicle. Do not attempt any repairs for this condition.

For 2000-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, swapping a module from a vehicle for diagnosis purposes is likely to cause errors and is not recommended. It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

Some 2021-2023 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P025A, P025B, P00C6, P008A, P0627 and/or U0109 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to an intermittent or partial disconnect of the harness, connector pin push-outs or loose/corroded grounds to the fuel pump control module (FPCM) connector, PCM connector and/or battery junction box connector. Inspect the following connectors for 1.5L and 2.0L engines: C1551B, C1035A, C110, C401, C4033, C4330. Verify the connections are fully seated, without damage and/or pushed out pins/terminals prior to performing Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics or replacing any components. Inspect G404 and verify it's clean and secure. If any connector damage is found, repair as necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Cell 005.

Some Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit noise when the brakes are applied. When diagnosing and repairing brake noise conditions, use the Workshop Manual (WSM) and the appropriate pinpoint test in section 206-00. The brake rotors should only be machined if directed by the WSM because one or more of the following conditions are present on the braking surface: scoring, excessive corrosion/rust or pitting, bluing/discoloration and/or heat spots. For additional information, refer to WSM section 206-00.

Some 2018-2022 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with the 8F35 transmission built on or before 16-Mar-2022 may exhibit transmission slip during acceleration from a stop when hot. This may be due damaged internal case half pump seals (7N265). To correct the condition, remove the transmission and replace the internal case half pump seals. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.
