N182202780 - Special Coverage Adjustment. In some circumstances, some 2014-2017 model year Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, and GMC Yukon vehicles may have a condition where customers may experience increased brake pedal effort, hard brake pedal, and/or potentially increased stopping distance. The condition is more prevalent at low speed when softly applying the brakes. The engine mounted mechanical vacuum pump output may decrease over time decreasing the amount of vacuum/power brake assist. Failure to follow recommended oil change intervals could contribute to this condition. The Driver?s Information Center, (DIC) ?Service brake assist? alert will activate 2-5 minutes after the vacuum level drops, and a Diagnostic Trouble Code, (DTC) will also be set. Even where this condition occurs, the hydraulic brake system remains functional but may require additional pedal force. Please understand that even if the vehicle exhibits this condition, it meets all federal motor vehicle safety standards for brake performance. Dealers are to replace the vacuum pump and vacuum pump belt. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have a content theft alarm sounding for no apparent reason. Technician may use all published Service Information diagnostics and has not found the cause of the unwanted content theft alarm sounding. Technician should use Global Diagnostic System 2 to review the Body Control Module parameters for "Content Theft Deterrent Trigger History". If the trigger is an Intrusion inspect for items hanging from the rear view mirror, solar powered dancing characters. When the trigger is a Glass breakage inspect the two rear quarter-panel windows and also in the liftgate glass. The quarter panel windows are attached to the body harness with a connector that looks similar to a 9 volt battery connector inspect them to be fully seated in on the glass. When the trigger is Ignition Voltage/Battery reconnect detected during a cold ambient temperature remote vehicle start event technician should call GM General Motors Technical Assistance Center.

Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0420 and or P0430 stored. Technician should be advised that the catalytic converter efficiency Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0420 and P0430 are disabled for the first hour of engine run time to allow break-in of the catalytic converter. Technician will need to use a Tech2 to check the verify engine run time on the Engine Hour Meter in the Instrument Panel Cluster Data Display/Data 1 List in the scan tool match. If the engine run time is less than one hour, the battery may have been disconnected, or another vehicle power loss event may have occurred, during vehicle manufacturing. Technician will need to clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and perform a drive cycle. If the catalytic converter was replaced and the Diagnostic Trouble Codes set it may be a result of the engine run time restrictions no longer being in place since the vehicle is no longer new. Technician will need to clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and perform a drive cycle.

Inspect the C-pillar which is the body vertical structure behind the rear passenger door area of the affected side of the vehicle for water intrusion or water marks on the seat belt retractor. If water evidence is found on the seat belt webbing or the retractor the seat belt/ retractor must be replaced after the water leak has been corrected and verified. There are 3 areas of seam sealer that will need to be addressed. After gaining access to the C-pillar and rear quarter panel area inspect for voids or missing seam sealer and apply a clear flow able seam sealer where needed.

Pair the iPhone to the system then enter the Bluetooth settings menu, select the ?i? icon next to the vehicle name in the device and enable show notifications. The text messaging feature will be available on the next ignition cycle. However with iPhones text messages cannot be responded to when using the infotainment system, they can only be received. For android devices pair the phone to the system during the pairing process the phone will ask you to allow the vehicle to access the device contacts. A second question will pop up on the device asking to allow the vehicle to access the message access profile. Both have to be allowed for the text messaging feature to work.

Technician will need to inspect the striker not aligned properly in latch opening. To repair this condition, rework/adjust the striker in the direction to center it in the latch opening. An adjustable wide mouth metal working tool may be used to adjust the striker just enough to center in the latch opening. Technician may find a seat bottom latch may have an unequal latch opening side-to-side for the striker to seat into. To repair this condition, with the affected seat in the tumbled forward position, while applying steady, firm pressure, cycle the seat down into the latched position. Some vehicles built prior to 09/21/2015 with 60/40 Split Bench Seat may have 60-percent long side bench, inboard latch may not be properly aligned in striker opening. Technician will need to place a 2.6 mm thick flat washer over the 40 percent seat base stud, not the floor stud. Some vehicles may have a seat base plat that rattles against the rib in the floor pan. Apply Mylar tape to the floor pan under the seat plate to provide relief for the rattle condition.

The noise may also sound like a lifter tick. If the noise is heard best at the fuel line and the sound will be real loud with a stethoscope. The fuel line will need to be replaced.

This Preliminary Information communication provides the technician with steps to resolve the issue of an oily substance that may be found on the inside windshield surface, and appears to be leaking from the rear view mirror area. Technician will remove the moisture sensor and clean the glass and mounting bracket with alcohol wipe. If the gel separates from the sensor the sensor will need to be replaced.
