Technician should inspect the ignition key cylinder door sticks in the up position. If the door is found open do not replace the ignition key cylinder, use a Lubriplate type of lubrication spray and lubricate the ignition key cylinder door. Insert the tip of the key in and out to verify the door of the cylinder is not sticking.

The technician may comment that the key in the fob will not fold close or stay latched closed. Damage to the folding mechanism could result from storing the key in the door lock cylinder and accidently bumping or making contact with the key fob. There is a unique black plastic oil sleeve that is between the end of the cam actuator and the camshaft. This sleeve directs oil into the actuator to adjust the timing. If the sleeve is damaged or missing, the engine control module cannot control the cam actuator movement and will set the diagnostic trouble codes.

The monitor calculates the percent of oil life remaining, based on 3 pathways. The first pathway for oil life calculation is engine revolutions. The second pathway for oil life calculation is the mileage form the last rest for all General Motors powertrains except the Volt. The third pathway for oil life calculation is the amount of time the oil is in the engine. The Volt uses a 2 year timer instead of 1 year. It also uses the engine revolution counter. It does not use the mileage pathway to count down.

14733 - CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. CERTAIN VEHICLES MAY HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE PARK-BRAKE CABLE RETAINER CLIP MAY BE MISSING. WITHOUT THE CLIP, THE CABLE CONDUIT COULD MOVE DOWN OVER TIME, ALLOWING THE BOOT TO BECOME DISLODGED. A DISLODGED BOOT CAN ALLOW WATER TO INTRUDE INTO THE CABLE HOUSING, WHICH CAN CAUSE CABLE FREEZING AND/OR CORROSION. DEALERS ARE TO INSPECT FOR A MISSING FRACTURED, DEFORMED, OR DISLODGED PARKING BRAKE CABLE RETAINING CLIP AT BOTH REAR BRAKE CALIPERS. IF THE CLIP(S) ARE MISSING DEALERS SHOULD CLEAN THE CLIP RETAINING GROOVE AND INSTALL A NEW CLIP.
