14466 - SERVICE UPDATE. THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES A SERVICE PROCEDURE TO REPROGRAM THE ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH THE 6.6L DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE (RPO LML). IF A BRAKING EVENT IS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY AN AGGRESSIVE ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE ON SOME OF THESE VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING WITH ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ONE FOOT ON THE THROTTLE, THE CUSTOMER MAY EXPERIENCE UP TO A 5 SECOND LAG IN ACCELERATION PERFORMANCE DUE TO THE ENHANCED ELECTRONIC PEDAL OVERRIDE BEING ACTIVATED (EEPO INTERVENTION) AND A SUBSEQUENT REDUCED POWER MODE. EEPO INTERVENTION IS NORMAL, BUT IN THIS VEHICLE, THE EEPO INTERVENTION MAY BE MORE FREQUENT THAN DESIRED DUE TO CERTAIN CALIBRATIONS. THE DEALER WILL REFLASH THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WITH A REVISED CALIBRATION AT THE NEXT SERVICE VISIT.

DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) SCREEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN THE OFF POWER MODE BUT THE CLUSTER IS AWAKENED BY OPENING THE CAR DOOR OR USING THE KEY FOB) DOES NOT MATCH THE SEASON ODOMETER READING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN THE RUN POWER MODE. THE TRIP A/B AND FUEL ECONOMY DISPLAYS MAY ALSO BE INCORRECT. THIS CONDITION OCCURS, WHEN THE VEHICLE SITS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME AND, NORMAL PARASITIC CURRENT DRAWS DEPLETE THE BATTERY STATE OF CHARGE TO LESS THAN 12 VOLTS AND, THE VEHICLE IS IN THE OFF POWER MODE WHEN THE CLUSTER IS AWAKENED AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

THE RETENTION CLIPS THAT ATTACH THE FUSE BLOCK TO THE BODY CAN BECOME LOOSE ALLOWING THE FUSE BLOCK TO MOVE OUT OF POSITION. IF THIS OCCURS, EXPOSED CONDUCTORS IN THE FUSE BLOCK MAY CONTACT THE MOUNTING STUDS CAUSING A SHORT TO GROUND EVENT AND POSSIBLY AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.

Refinishing Aluminum Wheels This bulletin updates General Motor's position on refinishing aluminum wheels. GM does not endorse any repairs that involve welding, bending, straightening o re-machining. Only cosmetic refinishing of the wheel's coatings, using recommended procedures, is allowed. Evaluating Damage In evaluating damage, it is the GM Dealer's responsibility to inspect the wheel for corrosion, scrapes, gouges, etc. The Dealer must insure that such damage is not deeper than what can be sanded or polished off. The wheel must be inspected for cracks. If cracks are found, discard the wheel. Any wheels with bent rim flanges must not be repaired or refinished. Wheels that have been refinished by an outside company must be returned to the same vehicle. The Dealer must record the wheel ID stamp or the cast date on the wheel in order to assure this requirement. Refer to Refinisher's Responsibility Outside Company later in this bulletin.

Frame Labels Visible from Outside of Vehicle Some customers may comment on disliking the appearance of the white labels that are visible on the frame The frame labels are only required during the manufacturing process and can be removed during pre-delivery inspection (PDI). There are two labels on the frame: the left front label (1) visible underneath the driver's door and the right front label (2) visible through the wheelhouse. Use care when removing the labels to prevent damage to the wax coating on the frame. Use a plastic trim tool to lift up on the edge and then pull the label off. The time required to perform this action is included in the PDI base time.
