This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vibration complaints that are one of the most challenging complaints to accurately diagnose and repair. Technician will need to use Pico Oscilloscope Diagnostic Kit to effectively diagnosis vehicles. Technician should drive the vehicle will using the Pico Oscilloscope to record data. After the data is recorded it should be reviewed to determine the root cause of the concern. If a repair attempt made the concern better but not eliminated or had no affect at all, and are requesting assistance from General Motors Technical Assistance Center record another Pico file and save it to the computer. After the new Pico Oscilloscope data has been saved email the data to General Motors Technical Assistance Center in the subject line include ?Vibration? ?Business Associate Code? and the last 8 of the Vehicle Identification Number.

N192210240 - Special Coverage Adjustment - Certain vehicles shown above, may have a condition that could cause the evaporative emissions purge valve to not fully close. If this condition occurs, the engine could run rough, hesitate or stall at idle speeds. Additionally, the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) would illuminate and a diagnostic trouble code would be set. This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) for Acadia, Cascada, Enclave, Traverse, vehicles or 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km) for Caprice, Cruze, Encore, Impala, LaCrosse, Sonic and Trax vehicles, whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. Dealers are to replace the evaporative emissions purge valve as necessary. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

Special Coverage. On certain vehicles, if a driver repeatedly sits on the seat belt cable cover located at the base of the driver's seat when entering the vehicle, it may cause the seat belt pretensioner to bend sharply over the seat side shield. If this continues to occur over an extended period of time, which is very rare, the seat belt pretensioner cable may fatigue and eventually separate, which could reduce the effectiveness of the vehicle's seat belts. Before any damage occurs to the pretensioner cable itself, signs of wear will be visible on the pretensioner cable cover where it has been repeatedly bent over the seat side shield. Dealers are to replace the pretensioner and side shield for all customers that experience a broken pretensioner cable or come to a dealership with excessive wear on the cable sleeve. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

On some vehicles, the evaporator core may become damaged as a result of repeated freeze/thaw cycles without proper drainage of the condensate from the core. A damaged evaporator core may leak refrigerant and result in a loss of air conditioning function. Dealers are to confirm the air conditioning system evaporator core is the source of the refrigerant leak, and replace the core if its sealing is compromised. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.
