General Motors has discovered an inadvertent error in the Parts Content Information portion of the window label on certain vehicles, which displays US/Canadian Parts Content for the vehicle, and Country of Origin (COO) information for the engine and transmission on these vehicles. As a result, the label displayed incorrect parts content percentages and COO information for the engines and transmissions on these vehicles. GM will contact involved owners of the affected to notify them of the situation. This label error has no effect on the safety or operation of the vehicles. Dealers are to affix a corrected new replacement label to the vehicle.

Technician verifies there are no Diagnostic Trouble Codes are present in the Antilock Braking System and Vehicle Communication Interface Module of the vehicle. If no Diagnostic Trouble Codes found call OnStar using the Blue button on the OnStar key pad and ask the advisor for a turn by turn route. Also make a OnStar personal call and a call into the vehicle. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician the steps needed to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have unwanted or phantom phone calls. Technician will need to determine what type of call the customer is having that is unwanted. The vehicle may receive an incoming call just like any other phone. Typically the customer will hear the phone ringing in the vehicle. This scenario also includes incoming Bluetooth calls. One type of unwanted call can be made if the key pad is faulty the OnStar system will try to make a blue button call for shorted voltage in the circuits. The OnStar module could have an internal fault and produce a ″Phone Unavailable″ audio message also it may have a Diagnostic Trouble Code U1500 or B1000. Refer to diagnostics for the Diagnostic Trouble Code making sure to follow any applicable Bulletins or Preliminary Information sheets. A “Ready” or “OnStar ready” audio message heard while driving. In some cases it has been found that the customer is inadvertently pressing the ″push to talk″ button on the steering wheel controls. On rare occasions, other issues in the steering column or Steering Wheel Control system may induce this concern.

17049 - Customer Satisfaction. Certain vehicles may have a condition where a support bracket on the right hand side of the rear axle may be missing. This may cause a slightly noticeable understeer condition in specific maneuvers and, over time, could allow a crack to form on the rear axle. Dealers will inspect the vehicle for the support bracket. If the support bracket is missing, the dealer will replace the rear axle.

16147 Customer Satisfaction. On certain vehicles, the center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL) fasteners may back off over time and cause a water leak, allowing water to flow into the rear compartment battery tub. When the battery tub fills with water to a height of 50mm or more, the DC/DC converter module board and connector are exposed to water which may cause corrosion. If water drains below the DC/DC converter, a resistive short may occur on the printed circuit board which could result in an unattended fire when the DC/DC converter is powered. Dealers are to inspect for water damage in the battery tub electrical components, and replace the CHSML gaskets and nuts (adding Loctite to the nut).
