Emission - General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2017-2020 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles. General Motors has determined that evaporative emissions canister service parts that were manufactured during a certain time period and installed in vehicles during a service repair were not manufactured to engineering specifications. Dealers are to inspect the evaporative emissions canister and replace it if the part does not meet engineering specifications.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have raised dents or ripple appearance in the side outer panel of the cargo box around the perimeter of the wheel house opening. Technician should first access the rear of the inner wheelhouse area through the tail lamp cavity and the front of the wheelhouse from under the vehicle, and coat the inner hem of the wheel house to side outer panel with 3M Rust Fighter I. After allowing the 3M Rust Fighter I to dry then apply several coats of Nox Rust X-121B undercoating.

This Preliminary Information communication provides the technician with steps to resolve the issue of an oily substance that may be found on the inside windshield surface, and appears to be leaking from the rear view mirror area. Technician will remove the moisture sensor and clean the glass and mounting bracket with alcohol wipe. If the gel separates from the sensor the sensor will need to be replaced.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on how to diagnose and repair vehicle that may have a "Check Trailer Wiring" or "Service Trailer Brake System? message on the Driver Information Center when a trailer is connected to the vehicle. Diagnostic Trouble Code C1114 set in the Chassis Control Module. Chassis Control Module has to determine the type of trailer brake system that is being used. The Chassis Control Module can be sensitive to a variety of trailer wiring issues. The technician will need to make a trailer tester using Electric Trailer Brake Magnets and 7-way trailer connector to determine if it is a vehicle or trailer issue. If the concern is not duplicated with the tester installed, the vehicle is operating correctly and the focus should be on the trailer wiring or 7 way connector.

Technician may find the engine or High Pressure Fuel Pump tick noise that is very loud in the cab of the truck. Comparison with another truck having the same powertrain could show the other truck is quieter. Technician will install an acoustic seal that may be missing or dislodged.
